What are the restrictions on domain transfers?

If your domain name is transferred within the 45 day registry auto-renewal period, an additional period of registration will not be added to the domain expiration date. You will still be charged as this cost covers the transfer between registrars and is non-refundable.

We therefore recommend transferring before renewal, or waiting for at least 45 days after renewal to make a transfer.

When you transfer a domain to us you are required to pay for an additional period of registration that is added to the current expiry date of registration. Other than that the transfer is FREE. However, there are registry restrictions regarding the eligibility for this period to be added.

When a domain is transferred between registrars, an additional registration period is added to the expiration date for the domain. The expiration date itself does not change (i.e. the month and day) only the year.

If a domain is renewed and then transferred to another registrar within the first 45 days of the renewal date, the domain will NOT have an additional period of registration added to the current expiry date. This is a registry restriction and applies to all registrars.

Also note that if your domain has 9 years or more remaining on the registration, it will only be extended up to a maximum of 10 years.

In addition, newly registered domains that are not yet 60 days old are not transferable between registrars. This is a registry restriction.
